# Discord and Telegram alert bots

The Alert Bot Setup helps a community publish duel alerts and optionally attach a referral code to Join buttons.

## Discord

You need a server manager role to install the app. The bot requests:

* View Channel
* Send Messages
* Embed Links
* Read Message History
* Use Slash Commands

Administrator permission is not requested for the bot. Setup commands require Manage Channels, Manage Server, or Administrator.

## Telegram

You must be a group admin to add and configure the bot. The bot itself does not request admin rights.

Telegram admins must temporarily disable **Remain Anonymous** while running setup commands.

Telegram uses one active alert destination per group. Running the enable command again replaces older destinations for that group, including stale topic destinations.

## Referral attribution

The setup screen includes commands to set or clear a referral code. New signups from that community's Join buttons can then be attributed to the saved code.

Use the status command shown in the app to verify alerts, network, and referral code.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.duels.trade/social-and-alerts/community-alert-bots.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
